Questa medaglia è emessa in concomitanza del 50º Giubileo Sacerdotale del pontefice, per celebrare il Concordato fra l’Italia e il nuovo Stato della Città del Vaticano. I Patti Lateranensi, che posero fine alla "Questione romana" vennero firmati alle 12 meridiane del giorno 11 febbraio 1929 (cfr. Bartolotti).
